Course Curriculum

The Bach Flower Remedy Online Course offers a thorough and practical introduction to the Bach flower remedies, giving students the knowledge and confidence to begin taking case histories and prescribing in clinical practice on completion of the course.

This course is compulsory for students enrolled in the Bachelor’s in Naturopathy and Holistic Medicine, but it may also be taken as a stand-alone Diploma course, with a diploma awarded upon successful completion of the coursework assignments.

Students will explore the history of the remedies, Dr. Bach’s philosophy, how the remedies are prepared, how to take a case and prescribe appropriately, the full materia medica of all 38 Bach remedies, the use of Rescue Remedy, and the application of Bach flower remedies for animals, pregnancy, childbirth, breastfeeding, and babies.

Course Goals

By the end of this course, students will be able to:

  • understand the history of Dr. Edward Bach and the development of the Bach remedies
  • explore the origins of the modern use of flower remedies
  • understand the effects of Bach remedies on the mental, emotional, and spiritual levels
  • distinguish between mother tinctures, stock bottles, and dosage bottles
  • understand dosage guidelines for adults, children, and the elderly
  • explore plant signatures and their significance
  • select appropriate remedies for themselves and others
  • understand the concept of a healing crisis
  • use Bach flower remedies in animals
  • complete client intake forms and case evaluations

Lessons

Lesson 1 – History of Dr. Edward Bach and the Flower Remedies
Explore the life and work of Dr. Bach, including his medical training, the development of the Bach nosodes, the discovery of the flower remedies, and his published works. This lesson also includes historical photographs, videos, and downloadable books from the 1930s.

Lesson 2 – Philosophy of Bach Flower Remedies
Study Dr. Bach’s philosophy of healing, including the relationship between personality, soul, and wellbeing, and the deeper principles that underpin the use of flower remedies.

Lesson 3 – Making Bach Flower Remedies
Learn how Bach flower remedies are prepared, including both the Sun Method and the Boiling Method, and gain an appreciation for the energetic and practical aspects of remedy preparation.

Lesson 4 – Administering Bach Flower Remedies
This lesson covers the fundamentals of prescribing and administering Bach remedies, including how to use a detailed questionnaire, how to identify the remedies a person may need, and how to prescribe for adults, infants, children, pregnant women, animals, and plants. Case studies are also included.

Lesson 5 – Repertory of the 38 Bach Flower Remedies
All 38 remedies are examined in detail, with downloadable PDF notes for each remedy and verbatim descriptions from Dr. Bach. Remedies are also grouped according to themes such as fear, uncertainty, loneliness, despondency and despair, oversensitivity, lack of interest, and over-concern for others.

A focused study of the full range of 38 Bach flower remedies discovered by Dr. Bach.

Lesson 7 – Rescue Remedy
A dedicated lesson on Rescue Remedy, covering its history, significance, and practical use.

Lesson 8 – Bach Flower Remedies and Animals
Learn how Bach remedies can be used to support animals, including how to assess their needs and select suitable remedies.

Lesson 9 – Bach Remedies in Pregnancy, Childbirth, and Babies
Explore the use of Bach flower remedies during pregnancy, labour, breastfeeding, and in babies and young children.

Final Exam

Once all nine lessons have been completed, students may sit the final exam, which consists of 35 true/false, multiple-choice, and short-answer questions, to be completed within 60 minutes.
